The workshop aims to sensitise Chinese students in Germany to cultural differences in communication and thus contribute to the development of their cultural action and communication skills.
Programme
Interactive introduction to relevant cultural and communication theories with a focus on China and Germany, group work, presentation of the results of group work and concluding discussion in plenary. If German students are involved, mixed Chinese-German groups will be formed during the group work phase.
Designed to develop cultural communication and behavioural skills:
1. raising awareness of one's own partly unconscious (communication) behaviour and cultural differences in verbal and non-verbal communication
2. learning what cultural competence means, which factors can influence perception and to what extent our perception can influence our communication behaviour
3. learning to reflect on one's own behaviour, to develop an awareness of one's own cultural imprint and to put theory into practice in small German-Chinese groups.
